Engineering for complex technical problems

Six ways we work with clients. Most engagements combine several of them, and every one follows the same disciplined process from written requirements to handover.

01

Custom Software Development

We take a system from a written problem statement to running software: requirements, data model, interface, integrations, tests, and deployment. You get one accountable team for the whole path, not a hand-off between agencies.

Includes

  • Web platforms, internal tools, and multi-tenant SaaS
  • Role-based access, audit trails, and admin consoles
  • Payments, billing, and accounting logic with tested calculations
  • Phone-friendly interfaces for field and operations staff

02

System Architecture & Engineering

Architecture decides what a system costs to run and to change. We write each significant decision down with the reason and the trade-off, so your team can review it now and revisit it later.

Includes

  • Service boundaries, data models, and tenancy design
  • Architecture decision records (ADRs) for every major choice
  • Event, queue, and streaming design for real-time workloads
  • Reviews of existing systems with a prioritised change plan

03

AI Integration

We add AI where it changes an outcome you can measure, and we make its output explainable to the person who has to act on it. Models sit behind clear interfaces so they can be tested, monitored, and replaced.

Includes

  • Anomaly detection and scoring on operational data
  • Explainable outputs that show why a result was produced
  • Language-model features inside existing products and workflows
  • Evaluation sets and monitoring so quality is checked, not assumed

04

Performance Engineering

We agree on performance targets in numbers before the build, then test against them. When an existing system is slow or expensive, we measure first and change what the measurements point to.

Includes

  • Latency and throughput targets written as testable requirements
  • Load testing, profiling, and query optimisation
  • Caching, streaming, and background-job design
  • Cost reviews of hosting and data infrastructure

05

Intelligent Automation

Most operational cost hides in re-keying, chasing, and reconciling. We map the manual steps, automate the ones that are rule-based, and leave a person in the loop where judgement matters.

Includes

  • Workflow automation across existing systems
  • Integrations with telematics, payment, and regulatory services
  • Scheduled jobs, alerts, and digests with full history
  • Human review steps where a decision carries risk

06

Technical Consulting & Advisory

Sometimes the most useful deliverable is a clear decision. We assess where you are, what the options cost, and what we would do in your position, in writing and in plain language.

Includes

  • AI readiness and opportunity assessments
  • Technology selection with written trade-offs
  • Implementation roadmaps sized to your team
  • Security and SOC 2 readiness reviews of existing products

What you receive on every engagement

Working software is the start. These are the documents and tests that let your team trust it, run it, and change it after we hand it over.

01Written requirements
User stories with testable acceptance criteria, agreed before the build starts.
02Architecture decisions
Each major choice recorded with its reason and trade-off, so it can be reviewed later.
03Security review
A threat model before the build and a code review against OWASP guidance before go-live.
04Automated tests
Unit, integration, and browser tests named after the requirements they prove.
05Guides and training
Operator, end-user, and training material written against the finished system.
06A clean handover
Deployment notes, a change log, and a ranked list of recommended next steps.

How an engagement runs

The same five stages whether we build a feature or a platform.

  1. Stage 1

    Discovery

We talk through the problem, your constraints, and how you will measure success.

  2. Stage 2

    Specification

Requirements, architecture, and security requirements in writing, for your review.

  3. Stage 3

    Build in phases

Working software at the end of each phase, tested, with a preview you can use.

  4. Stage 4

    Harden

Security review, performance testing against agreed targets, and fixes before launch.

  5. Stage 5

    Handover

Deployment, guides, and training, so your team can run and extend what we built.
